ISS flower girl at ISU Europeans

Posted: 12th February 2012

ISS skater, 8-year-old Miesha Cooke Smith from ISS Milton Keynes skated as a flower girl at the recent ISU European Championships held in Sheffiled, Miesha was on the ice for the ladies short program and for the Exhibition on the Sunday.

She was awed by the skating performances from the best in Europe, and decided; "I really liked Kiira Korpi because she is my heroine and skates beautifully". Unfortunately Kiira didn't go on to win, but Miesha managed to secure a kiss on the cheek from freshly crowned men's champion, Evgeni Plushenko when she handed him his flowers after his Exhibition skate!

Enthused by the experience, Miesha flew to Ljubljana, Slovenia, to represent ISS and take part in the Tivoli Cup on the 4th of February, where she met up with former ISS coach, and current Bosnian National champion, Damjan Ostojic for some last minute preparation. She was delighted when Damjan offered to help her warm up before her skate in the CUBS category for skaters born in 2003. Skating 12th out of 29 competitors, Miesha was awarded the best Skating Skills mark of all the skaters, which helped her achieve 4th place overall. Well done Miesha!
