ISS MK Take Oberstdorf by storm

Posted: 1st June 2015

The 11th annual ISU International Adult Competition was held in Oberstdorf, Germany from 18th May to 23rd May.

More than 400 competitors from 29 countries competed over 6 days in 65 separate competitions, skaters between 28 and 78 years old attended making the competition one to remember.

51 skaters formed the team representing Great Britain at the competition, accompanied by nearly 20 supporters. Milton Keynes was well represented in the team with 7 skaters - Phil Brown, Maxcene Crowe, Barbara Haughton, Inessa Parker, Sonal Patel, Sylvia Squires and Sandra Stevens; all are trained by ISS Milton Keynes coaches Inna Uspenska or Vadim Musin.

Once again Great Britain finished in the top 3 of the medal table, with a total of 23 medals (8 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze) demonstrating how strong Great Britain is in the world of Adult skating.

Milton Keynes’ skater Phil Brown took second place in the Silver Men III category and competing for the first time as a pair, Barbara Haughton and Phil Brown took third place in the Pairs Artistic event.

It was a great event and a huge achievement for Great Britain, skaters overcame personal injuries or difficulties to be able to compete and many achieved their own goals such personal best scores, clean programmes or simply overcoming nerves and apprehension in their first skating competition.

It takes hard work and dedication and ISS are really proud of everyone that took part. Well done!
