Scott Wilson Shows Great Ambition

Posted: 22nd March 2011

Young Scott Wilson has trained hard and achieved a lot in his skating career, his ambition is inspirational to many young skaters.

"I visited Canada one summer which is where ice skating first caught my eye. My aunty is an ice hockey player, and took me to an outdoor rink to skate. After returning from that trip the new ice rink at Coventry opened, so I eagerly joined the learn to skate course at Planet Ice. Coaches Marina Serova and Yuri Bureiko had seen my progress and then provided me with a great opportunity to be coached by them. Marina has been the best support in my skating career and I have now reached level 8. I have competed in many Open competitions, achieving first places in many of them. In 2009 I competed in my first international and have since competed in Estonia, Luxembourg and Belgium where I achieved podium places. I am currently training for the Junior British Championships.

I have also performed in Christmas shows at Coventry and as a guest skater at ISS Milton Keynes as a pair skater which was a huge amount of fun. I have also been lucky enough to be chosen to perform for IceAct in a Dancing on Ice Christmas special where we performed with Torvill and Dean and many other celebrities. I got to meet coach to the celebrities, Karen Barber, who did some training with us, it was great an experience I won't forget!"
