Zoe Jones and Christopher Boyadji

Posted: 2nd August 2017

ISS would like to give a warm welcome to GB Pairs couple Zoe Jones and Christopher Boyadji who are preparing for their up and coming Season at ISS Coventry.

The pair, who started skating together in June 2016 and have claimed the British Senior Pairs Championship in Sheffield in early December last year, have made the move to train at ISS Coventry, Planet Ice. Zoe and Chris have been training with Director of ISS, Yuri Bureiko and pairs coach Alexander Markuntsov who is a former World Competitor and student of Tamara Moskvina World and Olympic Coach. Boyadji said;

"The ice condition is amazing, the training environment is great, and we really feel that it is pushing us up. Also being on the ice with our friends Phil & Harry, top boys in the UK is great for us. Alexander has such a great pairs experience in the past and as part of Tamara Moskvina team, he is able to teach us many new things."

The couple have made an impact on the scene since they formed back in 2016. Christopher Boyadji announced the end of his partnership with Amani Fancy in January 2016 after enjoying two years as the top ranking Senior Pair Team in the UK. Soon after, Boyadji put out a statement that he would be looking for a new skating partner. Jones replied and the pair have been skating together since June 2016.

Zoe Jones, aged 37, enjoyed a successful skating career in the early 2000s, being crowned British Senior Champion in 2000 and 2001, as well as competing in European and World Championships. She retired from skating in 2001 to start a family, and now has three children as well as a decade of coaching under her belt.

She made her return to the ice in 2014 because she knew her career was not over, and that she had much more to offer both artistically and competitively. Within three months of her return, she won the ISU Adult Competition in Oberstdorf, Germany, and she placed 2nd place at the 2015 British Senior Championships. Jones said;

“I have always wanted to skate pairs, and have that person alongside you for training and through the ups and downs. When I sent a message to Chris I never expected a reply, never mind to end up being his new partner!"

The pair will be skating at IJS Sheffield this week, after this they will be working towards the qualification for Olympic Games in September during the Nebelhorn Trophy 2017. The pair are also preparing for 2 more international events: Cup of Nice and Volvo Cup. Then aiming for the British Championships in December.

Zoe and Chris have a busy season ahead and ISS would like to wish them luck and are delighted they are training with us at ISS Coventry. Good luck guys!
