ISS Skaters show promise at the IJS
Posted: 1st September 2011
ISS recently carried out its annual summer camp in Ozolnieki in Latvia. Yuri Bureiko was joined by coaches Marina Serova, Vicky Ogden, Susanna Bureiko and Alexandra Levleva. The event was a huge success and was enjoyed by skaters, coaches and parents, who were all able to take something positive and away from the camp.
Many skaters took part in the camp over the 2 weeks and came from as far as Russia, South Africa, Holland, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Wales and the UK. The camp provided the perfect setting for daily training sessions consisting of on-ice classes, led by Yuri and Marina, which covered all aspects of free skating, and off-ice training and dance classes lead by Vicky Ogden and Susanna Bureiko, which covered street dance and contemporary mixed style dance.
The 2 weeks were focused on helping skaters accomplish their goals and developing on jump techniques, edge work and choreography. Many skaters had the chance to work on their competitive programs for the forth coming season, which was a great addition to the daily training sessions.
ISS Events seamless organisation helped make the camp a success. Tabitha Mayer from ISS Events was always on hand to answer queries from skaters and parents and managed all the accommodation and transfers for the skaters and their families.
Here's what some of our skaters and parents had to say about their experience on the camp:

"What a fantastic experience the ISS Latvian summer camp at Ozolnieki was. The whole camp highly organised, the classes were great and the off-ice and the on-ice sessions were varied and suitable for all levels of skaters. We definitely came away with not only a better skater but also an inspired skater! As a family, we loved the peace and tranquility of the town after a day at the rink but also the fact that that if we wanted to eat out, the local restaurants served lovely food at very good prices. Once again many thanks to you all for a great camp and a most enjoyable experience!"
If you would like to take part in future camps master classes, we provide for all ages and skating levels, please check the website for updates, and don't miss out!
